Magna Carta raid the Travelling Gavel

On 27th April ten members of Magna Carta  travelled to Brett Valley in Hadleigh to raid The Travelling Gavel, this visit organised by W.Bro. John Pitcher, who incidently is a member of both lodges, was a great success and thoroughly enjoyed by all those present. After watching  a Ceremony of Raising in Brett Valley’s lovely medieval temple all the brethren sat down to the usual lively Brett Valley festive board at which a total of 57 brethren dined.

As a forfeit The WM of Brett Valley invited the Magna Carta members to stand and handed them all a song sheet with specific instructions on how he wanted the song to be sung together with a daffodil which they duly received without scruple or diffidence. To much laughter Magna Carta then proceeded to sing ‘All Things Bright and Beautiful’ and words really can’t convey how well this went, but a fantastic night was had by all and more importantly the Travelling Gavel had done its job once again by forging new friendships between lodges.
