Prostate Cancer Checks 2018

Another very good day was held at Sudbury Masonic Hall on the Easter Weekend, Saturday, 31st March. 68 men went through the test and a large number of them also took advantage of the free health check supplied by the NHS.

Results will be received within the next 2-3 weeks and any action required will be contained in the notification to the individuals concerned. Radio Essex gave out the details of the venue, times and what was being carried out and this made a difference to the number attending. Distribution of posters around the town also helped advertise the event. I have received some very good feedback from the day and this is very encouraging. I would like to thank the Sudbury Masonic Hall for the use of its main room and Max for opening/ closing for the team.

The results from the tests carried out at Ashlar House have been received, as you are aware the details are confidential, however there were a number of “concerns” raised and 2 Prostate cancers actually confirmed and being treated. This, combined with the results of the other tests carried out last year, proves that the process does save lives.

A request has been made to hold a test day at Felixstowe, this has now been agreed with the Charity “Chaps” and the other professionals who attend and will be held on the 30th June 2018. Details will follow but put the date in your diary now. Also there are test days at Bungay- 6th October and Ipswich 17th November.

There have been some very high profile personalities standing up recently and saying they have Prostate Cancer which has brought the condition to the forefront of the public eye. When the test days are in your area make sure you attend, bring a buddy, have the test, get peace of mind or get early treatment – a win –win situation. Look out for the details that will be announced in good time for each test day.
